The AFA Government class organized an activity where they went out into the community to hand out information about voting in Minnesota this year. The students created a Tri-Fold Board with information on it, as well as creating handouts that included information about voting early and helpful websites for voters. The students organized some interactive activities, such as games where people were asked questions for candy and having sample ballots available for voters.
The highlight of our trip to the Midtown Global Market was that we met an individual who works on the Hillary Clinton Campaign. He thanked us for what we were doing, especially because it was non-partisan and encouraged people to learn about topics prior to voting. He offered the students are rare opportunity to see Gloria Steinem the following day. The students also were successful in registering one person to vote and helped another find their polling place.
