AFA students Sagal Ali, Chaquona McCall, and Dominique Dawson joined Mr. Johnson in a lobbying visit to the Minnesota State Capital on February 29th. The purpose of the trip was to inform legislators about important issues affecting charter schools and to advocate for bills supporting charter schools. The group spoke with Representative Karen Clark, Senator Jeff Hayden, Representative Phyllis Kahn, Senator Kari Dziedzic, Representative Bobby Joe Champion, and Senator Mary Jo McGuire. The group also had a private meeting in the Governor’s office with Education Commissioner Brenda Cassellius.
